May 6, 2024
You may have heard of Ayurveda or know someone who has been on an Ayurveda Holiday. Still, you have many questions about the treatments, their benefits and where to choose the most qualified program for best results. We answer all of your questions with these 7 Things to Know About an Ayurveda Retreat.
Ayurveda is a holistic method to prevent serious illnesses
Ayurveda is a science that dates back to ancient times. According to the legend, Lord Dhanwanthari delivered the knowledge to a lineage of Indian sages to help human beings combat preventable illnesses. In its entirety, Ayurveda is a holistic science of sustaining life healthily. Ayurvedic treatments aim at boosting your immune system in order to support your body’s healthy natural activity. An Ayurveda retreat or a holiday in Sri Lanka is an excellent choice for a long journey towards healing & a fulfilling life.
Everyone is unique and has an individual Dosha (mind-body-spirit) constitution
An Ayurvedic treatment plan begins with an individual doctor consultation in order to determine your unique mind-body-spirit constitution, known as dosha. This will be the basis for your treatment as well as diet plan, which may vary significantly from those around you. Usually, Ayurvedic meals are primarily based on a vegetarian diet, although sometimes a light amount of fish or chicken can be allowed. At Amuna Ayurveda & Wellness Retreat, our well-experienced Ayurveda Physicians will prescribe you a highly personalized Ayurveda diet plan.
Choosing the right Ayurvedic physician is key to the success of your treatment program
A qualified Ayurvedic doctor will assess not only your current health condition but will take into account greater factors affecting your environment. A good doctor will pay attention to your mental and emotional state, as much as to your physical symptoms. At Amuna, Ayurveda Physicians use his or her intuition to establish the deeper connections between your mind, body, and spirit.
An Ayurveda holiday is a starting point for a healthy lifestyle
If you enjoy living a blissful life then health is your priority. Living a fulfilling life means feeling at your optimal energy level and an Ayurveda holiday in Sri Lanka can give that much-needed boost to your healthy living. An Ayurveda holiday is not just a way of taking a break from your usual routine, it is a way of transforming yourself by investing in a continuous journey toward a healthy and happy lifestyle.

Should I book a 7-day, 14-day or 21-day Ayurveda retreat?
Depending on the condition and treatment results that you are seeking, the minimum recommended treatment program is around 7 days. Some light introductory 3-day or 5-day wellness programs are sufficient to awaken your senses and promote general well-being. However, if you are looking for a Detox & De-stress program then you should book at least a 7-day or 10-day program; for a beginner’s Panchakarma treatment for conditions such as digestive or respiratory disorders, muscle, and joint aches, you should consider a minimum of 14-days; for serious conditions such as Parkinson’s or post-cancer recovery, you should book a minimum of 21-days. In all cases, your results are greatly improved by the presence of a qualified physician and your commitment to follow the prescribed course of treatment.
What can I expect from an Ayurveda holiday?
For many people, the health benefits associated with Ayurveda treatments will not begin to show immediate results. The biochemical system of our body takes some time to adjust and reboot – it is a regenerative process more than anything.
However, retaining the healthy advice received during your treatment is the most crucial part in maintaining a healthy lifestyle after your holiday. After all, an Ayurveda holiday should not be just another vacation, it should deliver lasting results that can improve your health and sustain your happy life!
